Recipe: Plantain Chips
It’s pretty safe to say everyone out there loves chips. Unfortunately the majority of chips that are stocked in the grocery store are packed with tons of salt, processed oils, and additives that have no business being in that bag. There are definitely some brands who are making it much easier to buy chips and not feel so guilty about it (shoutout to Siete Chips as one of my favorites), but I’ve recently been LOVING plantain chips. They are so simple to make (3 ingredients) and I would encourage all of you to give them a try! Quick & easy recipe below -
Plantain Chips
Gluten Free, Paleo, Vegan, Vegetarian
Ingredients
3-4 ripe plantains (I try to make larger batches at once to last longer than 1 day). Ripe (yellow) plantains will be more sweet, but if you prefer less sweet then go with the green ones.
1-2 tbsp olive, avocado, or coconut oil
Salt (about 1 tsp)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F + line two baking trays with parchment paper
Peel the plantains and slice diagonally into thin slices. ** the thinner you cut them, the crunchier and chip like they will turn out
Throw all of the plantain slices into a bowl and add the olive/avocado/coconut oil + salt
Lay each slice individually onto the parchment paper & sprinkle a bit more salt on top (optional)
Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until your liking of crispiness
Enjoy!
