Beet Juice : All the Benefits!

If you follow along with me on instagram, you’ll know that I’ve been on a huge beet juice kick recently. I’ve always loved the taste of beets and would typically add them to my salads, but I’ve never really craved them much in my morning juices. I was recently introduced to beet juice through other nutrition professionals and decided to do some research of my own to see what all of the talk was about. While there are a handful of benefits that beet juice is said to have on the body, what really sparked my interest was the information about how much it can increase your daily energy. As someone who has suffered with autoimmune diseases for the last 10 years, chronic fatigue has been one of the most significant symptoms that I have had to deal with. Increasing my energy levels has always been a focus of mine and my team of doctors, but has constantly been a trial & error process. Whether you’re sick or not, I think it’s safe to say we’re all looking for more energy these days! I feel very strongly about sharing and recommending things to you that I have only tried for myself, and this is no different.

Research Behind Beet Juice:

Beetroot juice is one of the richest dietary sources of antioxidants and naturally occurring nitrates. Nitrates are compounds which improve blood flow throughout the body – including the brain, heart, and muscles. These natural nitrates increase a molecule in the blood vessels called nitric oxide, which helps open up the vessels and allows more oxygen flow as well as lower blood pressure. By balancing oxygen use, beet juice has been shown to also help the body respond better to exercise and increase stamina. Many athletes are now drinking beet juice pre workout to help boost performance, improve blood and oxygen flow to tired muscles, and increase endurance. One to two cups a day has been shown to have a significant effect, especially for lowering blood pressure. When consuming beet juice every day, it can definitely influence your urine & stool color, so don’t be alarmed if you see some changes.

My Experience:

I’ve been buying or making different versions of beet juice for the last 4 days (included one in my recipes section) and I can’t even begin to explain how immediate the results have been so far! After just day 1 of drinking it, I was absolutely hooked. I was LOADED with energy that I haven’t experienced in a very long time and it even lasted the entire day (even had some difficulty falling asleep because I was just not tired). Along with chronic fatigue, I often suffer from brain fog, inability fo focus, and even blurred vision at times. I had NONE of these symptoms and have gotten more creative work done in the last few days than I have in months. Everyone has their own body and reacts to things differently, so while this has been a huge game changer for me, I’m not promising it will do the same for you. I always say give it a try if you feel intrigued by it and see what it does for you - no harm here in drinking some nutritious beet juice!
